SPNI was founded in 1953 by a small group of teachers, scientists and kibbutzniks who were attempting to prevent the draining of the Hula swamp, serving hundreds of millions of migrating birds.
SPNI has evolved to serve the needs of Israel ‘s communities. Today it’s crucial we educate people of all ages and bring in a new generation of environmentally conscious, aware and responsible citizens. SPNI’s environmental education activities take place in schools, community centers, city parks, forests, and in every place where nature can be found. From Orienteering to Summer Camps, SPNI recreational programs are growing by leaps and bounds, because it’s not just about learning – it’s about adventure!
