Success Preserving Holon Sand Dunes
The Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel was please to learn that the National Planning and Building Committee supported SPNI's position, ordering the Municipality of Holon to preserve 4,000 dunams (1,000 acres) of sand dunes to be accessible as a public park.
The Holon sand dunes represent a unique habitat with exceptional biodiversity, supporting a wide variety of plant and animal species that are endemic, occuring no where else on Earth. This special environment is a national asset. SPNI is proud to have influenced the decision to preserve this treasure to be enjoyed by the people of Holon and residents and visitors to Israel.
SPNI continues to support the integration of green spaces into residential neighborhoods in Israel's urban centers, to provide Israeli citizens with a high quality of life.
