- Benefits: protection against financial risk/losses and access to assistance services wherever you are.
- The average cost of travel insurance should be 5-10% of trip costs depending on selected plan.
- Travel insurance cost is based on just two factors: prepaid trip costs and age. Medical history, or destination is not a cost factor in getting a quote.
- Any outlay of cost should be considered prepaid cost (determined by traveler); flights, organized tour, tips, spending money, hotels, etc.
- Companies offer a range of plans varying in coverage levels and cost. Example plan coverages below:
- Basic coverage – trip cancellation/interruption and small compensation for travel delay.
- Prime coverage (recommended for overseas) – emergency medical/dental/transport, baggage loss, missed connection.
- The earlier you buy trip insurance the longer your coverage window. Most plans require securing a plan within 14 days of making first trip payment or deposit.
