Birding the Dead Sea – Kalia and Ein Gedi

Event Details:

Date: February 16, 2025

Address: Parking lot on Rothschild Street, above the Nili and David Jerusalem Bird Observatory

Join us for a day trip to the wadis of the Dead Sea, where the first early spring migrants are starting to arrive, and local birds are beginning their breeding season. We will visit a couple of wadis along the northern Dead Sea, explore the fields of Kibbutz Kalia, and venture through the area of Ein Gedi. With the winter rains, the wadis should be in bloom, attracting a variety of butterflies. Highlights include Cyprus Warbler, Arabian Babbler, Fan-tailed Raven, Tristram’s Starling, Sand Partridge, Striolated Bunting, and more!

The trip involves moderate walking on uneven ground (2-3 km).
