Discover the beauty and wonder of the Ramon Crater in the Negev Desert—an extraordinary geological landscape shaped over millions of years. Filled with breathtaking views, unique formations, and desert wildlife, this trip offers a rich blend of geology, ecology, and history.
We’ll begin with a scenic walk along the crater rim, from the Ilan Ramon Visitor Center to Mount Gamel, an ideal vantage point for appreciating the vast desert landscape. Afterward, we’ll visit the Visitor Center to learn about the crater’s formation and Israel’s Space Program.
After a break for lunch, we’ll descend into the crater for a short hike to Mount Mansara, known for its striking layered rocks. On our drive back, we’ll look for traces of ancient human activity scattered across the region.
Activity Level
Moderate: mostly level dirt paths with some stairs and mild inclines.
Each hike is approximately 1–2 km.
