Spring in the Negev Desert offers a rare opportunity to experience one of the region’s most spectacular natural events: the courtship display of the Asian Houbara (formerly known as MacQueen’s Bustard). We’ll travel to the species’ traditional dancing grounds and patiently observe the males as they perform their remarkable breeding displays.
Beyond the houbara, the open desert and agricultural edges of the Nitzana–Ezuz region host a rich variety of desert and migrant birds. Possible sightings include Little Owl, Cream-colored Courser, sandgrouse, wheatears, and other spring migrants. We’ll also bird the Berotayim grove and surrounding habitats, a well-known hotspot for migrating songbirds during spring passage.
On the return journey, we’ll pause to enjoy the spring wildflower bloom of the northern Negev, offering a scenic close to a full day of birding.
No prior birding experience required—beginners welcome.
Easy to moderate walking on paved paths and uneven ground.
Guiding is in English.
