Wildlife of Jerusalem: Green Oases in the City of Gold – 5/20

Event Details:

Date: May 20, 2024

Time: 7:00 – 17:30 IST

Address: Bus departs from pickup points in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Pickup details will be sent after registration.

Join us as we uncover the hidden natural treasures within Jerusalem’s urban landscape. We’ll see conservation in action as we encounter migrating songbirds, free-roaming gazelles, and the captivating beauty of the Jerusalem hills.

Our Tour Includes:

The Nili and David Jerusalem Bird Observatory
We’ll kick off our adventure at the Nili and David Jerusalem Bird Observatory, nestled next to the Knesset. We’ll watch bird-banding up close and then help release the birds back into the wild. The Observatory’s bustling habitat is key to understanding the epic migrations of hundreds of millions of birds from across Europe to and from Africa every year.

Gazelle Valley
Next, we’ll head to Israel’s largest urban nature site, where 150 indigenous endangered gazelles roam freely in their natural habitat. While there, we’ll hear about the creative community conservation efforts that preserved this urban oasis. Get ready for some inspiring tales and views that will leave you breathless.

Scenic Hike in the Jerusalem Hills
As a grand finale, we’ll lace up our hiking boots for a walk in Jerusalem’s natural beltway to take in the panoramic views, the fresh, pine-scented air, and the wildflowers at peak bloom. It’s the perfect ending to a day full of discovery, right in Israel’s capital.
