After two challenging years, we return to the south to reconnect with the landscapes, stories, and resilience of the Western Negev. This full-day guided bus trip blends gentle walking, meaningful history, and close encounters with nature and conservation.
We’ll begin in the fields of Urim, where wide open spaces meet cutting-edge conservation. Here, we’ll learn about the Falcon Guardians—a joint project of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel and the Israel Nature and Parks Authority—working to protect endangered wintering falcons from illegal poaching.
From there, we’ll continue to Nahal HaBesor, Israel’s largest river basin flowing to the Mediterranean. Walking along its banks, we’ll explore layers of ancient human history alongside rich desert-river ecology, seasonal greenery, and sweeping views.
After a relaxed picnic lunch in nature, we’ll visit the Nova Memorial to pause, remember, and reflect, and hear how SPNI is actively involved in restoring the landscapes and communities of the south.
On our return journey, we’ll stop to enjoy the spring wildflower blooms that make the Western Negev famous (exact location dependent on conditions)—a vivid reminder of renewal and hope.
Easy to moderate walking (2–3 km).
Guiding is in English.
